RELIGION IN THE HUNGER GAMES

Come and explore with me the Nation of Panem, the Capitol with the 12 Districts where Suzanne Collins expertly takes us to a Dystopian world that is greatly influenced by the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur and Roman gladiatorial games. Although these are usually associated with false gods and evil, it is important to point out that it was from flaws like that in society that Christianity as a Religion emerged and it is the same values and beliefs that make The Hunger Games trilogy a thrilling and suberb work of art. With the intricate trilogy of novels, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, and the four movies, I look beyond what the author is said to avoid in her work - Religion, but take you to look at the similarities in the major themes in both The Hunger Games and Christianity.

Sacrifice, oppression, persecution, suffering, severe poverty, starvation, violence, death and most important-Hope.

These are to be found in Collins' work and in Christianity we know today.
